I spent the first eighteen years of my life in Houston. Because of this, regardless of where I live, Houston will always be the place that I call home. Even though my parents have actually moved away from Houston (they are currently living in the same state I am living in, which is Colorado), I still think of Houston as home. The reason for this is that it is where every single important event of my childhood and teenage years took place, and all of the things that happened during those times played a big role in shaping me into the person I am today. I feel lucky to have an endless supply of great memories from those times of my life.
Although my parents no longer live in Houston, I still have a whole lot of old friends who live in the Houston area. Because I have stayed really close to so many of the people who I grew up with, I always try my best to go back there and see them every now and then. I have all of those people in my email address book, but you really can’t substitute emails for some quality face to face time with the people who you care about.
